So over the weekend I hung out with friends to celebrate the last Friday night party at Duck Inn. This place has been around for decades, hosting parties out on their gazeebo, or just the typical lunch, dinner, or brunch. But this weekend was their last. They closed to be torn down and have condos built. Well the funny thing is that I never really hung out at Duck Inn that much. I went there maybe once a year for brunch with family or friends, and that was it. But this summer all of a sudden my friends want to go there almost every Friday night! It's pretty cool, live music, party on the sand...$4 beers. Yeah, good idea that I pre-partied before going out there. Especially with their long lines.
Well here's the funny part about this final celebration. I was over Xian and Steve's house getting ready (they live across the street from this place...how convenient), and my other friends Meghann, Kayt, and Chuck were on their way. When we walked across the street and passed folks walking back (first sign of something wrong: it was only 8:30 and they stop at 10!), we hear them saying, "Man that sucks they are out of beer!!! Crap. So we did a 180 and turned around right back to the house. Wouldn't make sense to stand out there without any drinks! Oh well...no Friday night party. So instead we went out to a bar that wasn't crowded and had some food and drinks. A lot better than out in the heat with a ton of people.
Sunday I got a call from Xian saying that they were going to have their "final" party on Sunday afternoon. But someone was spreading a nasty rumor around town that Jimmy Buffett was going to show up. Yeah. Of course it didn't happen, the closest we got to Jimmy Buffett was listening to the live band play "Margaritaville". Oh well. But it was great to see everything out there for the last time.
